The Warriors of Wudang Mountain depicts the secret world of an ancient Taoist training ground. Sounds of birds greet the visitor as he catches a glimpse of Taoist warriors in training. A variety of vigorous rhythms as well as smooth flowing lines suggest both the dynamic and well-honed qualities of their movements. Through the balance of structured staccato rhythms in the strings with the undercurrent of legato countermelodies in the brass and winds, and vice versa, one can also sense the duality of yin and yang, seemingly opposing but complementary forces that are a key element of Taoist philosophy. The observer finds that behind the gentle (yin) exterior of their movements lies great power (yang).
