Early Shen Yun Pieces: Goodness in the Face of Evil  (2019 Production)

In twenty-first century China, in the shadow of skyscrapers and apartment buildings, lies a huge network of prisons. Akin to the Soviet Gulags, these were built by the Chinese Communist Party to “reform” prisoners of conscience. Not far from the city of Shenyang in northeast China is the most notorious of them all, a dark place called Masanjia. In recent years, the largest group of prisoners there was jailed for practicing meditation. 

This story, based on true events, begins with a girl telling her mother about Falun Dafa. Also known as Falun Gong, this is a spiritual meditation discipline very popular in China. But because of this popularity, the communist regime soon bans the practice. The daughter is imprisoned and condemned to the latest iteration of atrocities—forced organ harvesting. What unfolds is a trial of faith, and goodness in the face of evil.
