In this episode, we explore the music for a cheerful, fast-paced folk dance called yangge.Welcome to northeast China—a region known for Siberian winters, thick accents, and dancing with unusual props such as rakes, fake donkeys and, most notably, handkerchiefs. Yangge music is typically performed by Chinese instruments like suona and luogu, staples of village festivities like wedding processions. In this composition, the joyous folk music is performed by the entire Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra. So let the festivities begin!
