Known as “The Roof of the World” and “The Kingdom in the Clouds,” Tibet has one of the highest elevations and harshest climates in the world.
This natural environment has profoundly shaped Tibet’s culture and spirituality, as well as its music and dance. In Tibet, dancing and singing seemingly accompany every occasion—from harvest celebrations and weddings to religious and local festivities. Through music and dance, Tibetans express gratitude for life and a deep reverence for the divine.
Set amidst majestic Himalayan peaks, the Tibetan dance featured here is a celebration of this rich dance tradition. It brims with both masculine grandeur and delicate free-flowing movements, as well as colorful costumes and silky garments.
The dance was choreographed and performed by Fei Tian College students as part of Chinese New Year celebrations.
