Shen Yun Compositions
425 FollowersD.F. / arr. JING XIANOriginally written for erhu and piano, this piece debuted in Shen Yun Performing Arts’ 2016 world tour. Reorchestrated for three erhus and orchestra, this work showcases the versatility of the two-stringed instrument. Even with just two strings, the erhu can present a wide range of emotions, and special techniques such as left-hand pizzicato add flair. Indeed, the erhu shares some techniques with the violin as we know it today, but it predates its Western counterpart by thousands of years. In this composition, the main melody portrays the beauty and solemnity of divine beings, and flowing tunes embody the graceful movements of heavenly ladies dancing.
