D.F. / arr. Jing Xian
A resounding gong transports us to a realm high up in the heavens, where an assembly of divine beings welcomes the Creator of the universe. He calls upon them to embark on a sacred mission: to establish a glorious culture for humankind. Dare they leave their heavenly posts and vow to join the Creator on a long and perilous journey to the mortal world? Momentum builds as they descend, emerging first in the Middle Kingdom—China. Now in the capital’s royal palace, a noble procession welcomes the imperial officials, followed by the graceful ladies of the court and, finally, the emperor. The lilting, triple-meter melody develops into the original theme, revealing Chinese civilization’s connection to the divine, harkening back to sacred vows made long ago.
